What is Ayurvedic Consultation?
Ayurveda revolves around diet and lifestyle with the state of digestion, of all kinds, seen as primary indicator of health and disease. It is a medical and spiritual science aimed at prevention as well as treatment. Therefore, Ayurvedic Consultations are not just for those who suffer from a chronic illness or health concern, but also for anyone who is keen to learn how Ayurveda can help them achieve and maintain total health and well-being.
In the case of chronic disorders like arthritis, anxiety and diabetes, the consultant will compare your current body balance with your optimal one. Both states are determined via a series of questions and observations about you, your ailments and your lifestyle, with the main aim being to create a bespoke Ayurveda programme that will help you return to your optimal constitution.
You will be asked to complete a detailed questionnaire prior to the consultation and your initial consultation will last 60 minutes.
Diagnosis & Ayurvedic Prescription
Based on the findings from your consultation, the Ayurvedic practitioner will diagnose your body balance (current versus optimal) and prescribe a tailor-made Ayurvedic treatment plan, which won’t just help you achieve good health but also maintain it. This plan will suggest various steps, Ayurvedic treatments and techniques to help you return to and/or maintain your natural, optimal body balance. Each of the steps, Ayurvedic treatments and techniques generally fall into one of two categories – Reduction or Tonification:
1Reduction
This method aims at decreasing excesses in the body, eliminate the factors that, according to Ayurveda, cause illnesses. It helps to get rid of deep-seated toxins as part of illness prevention and internal cleansing programmes.
2Tonification
This method aims at nourishing deficiencies in the body and building up inadequate energy or lack of substance in the body that may bring illness about. It is indicated in convalescence, or after the reduction method.
What is Ayurvedic Treatment?
An Ayurvedic treatment may involve a combination of the following:
- Herbs and herbal remedies
- Nutrition advice tailored to bring balance to a person's Doshas
- Advice on lifestyle habits
- Specially selected yoga exercises
- Specialist Ayurvedic Massages using herb-infused massage oils
Specialist Ayurvedic treatments also include:
- Panchakarma (The Ayurevdic five step detox treatment) - this highly effective treatment involves a five step programme of internal cleansing. It restores and maintains good health, strengthens the immune system and protects the body against diseases by removing toxins and rejuvenating your body's internal systems.
Ayurvedic Treatment Plan
Following your initial consultation, you will be offered a 30 minute face-to-face follow up session where your treatment plan will be discussed with you and any questions answered. You will be provided with a written copy of your plan, either via email (for online consultations) or in person.
